Birth Of Extropia

in the spotlight 5 Comments

In the beginning there was nothing. Consequently, I know nothing about that so I'll skip to the next phase.  Then, there was the sky and the sea. And there were four options in the World → Force Sun menu. Obviously, there was Sun and if you turn to midnight there was Moon. And it was good. Quite cool actually.

It takes several days for the gods of the grid to do those things and deliver you a new sim. Then, it's up to you to do the rest of genesis, divide ground from the sea, make trees, animals and all that stuff. I am not sure if there are any ribs needed, but then avatars show up and you can start eating an apple. Or even better… a cake. If there is a spoon, that is.

So if you are still living in the darkness (of the past) I have a pleasure to inform you that The Technocratic City-State of Extropia (SLURL) is founded. It was yesterday noon. Officially. With flag and anthem, ambassadors and speeches, fireworks and turntables. If you need less schizoid description of what actually happened you'd better check Sophrosyne's blog.

I will just witness that it is a great experience watching the sim coming out of nothing. Even if that means that tectonics are getting wild right under your feet. It is wonderful feeling to fly around it, watching the grounds that are still untouched and are awaiting for those thousands of prims that very soon we will call our home.

More than that it is great to see all those people on opening party talking if there is a spoon in Matrix after all. Or girls standing in the corner, giggling between whispers about prims, attachments and ecology. OK, that was crazy and I won't tell you more. It's not the prims and textures that makes a place home. It's people. Both residents and visitors.

After all… it's full of stars.

If you like this story, share it with the rest of the world. Thanks.

  1. Whoa, what wonderful coverage! Thank you!

Working with you is one of the best parts of making the Extropian vision come true!

  2. It will take us more than seven days to build our homes, but when we do I think they’ll be at least as good as Eden.

If nothing else the parties will be wilder, and there will be cake for everyone ^_^

  3. Thank you girls. Pleasure is mutual. :p

  4. I totally know the feeling ! Had my sim on beginning of June and spent a whole afternoon just wandering on my own, like it was the most precious of secrets :) And then indeed, it grew on its own, found its own community and took its life on its hands, hehehe Now, it’s not only mine no more… but the people I find there night after night – that’s no doubt waht SL is all about !

  5. I prefer to fly over it :)
The virginity days are almost over I think… and I hope…. time to rezz the prims and make homes.
