Intermezzo On The Oil Rig

snow-crashing 4 Comments

It is Argent's fault that I am writing this. She left a teasing comment on the last post. She mentioned deserted oil rigs in international waters. She touched one of my spots.

I love deserted oil rigs. Especially if they are in international waters and hosting a server. That is that anarcho-romantic impulse in me. And a bit of zen. Imagine living on a place like that. Next sim to nowhere. Steel and the sea. And yes, the oil, the blood of the meatspace. Oil is being sucked there from the mother Earth and sent forward. We have the hardware. Real hardware. Hardware that is stored in racks. Also a verybroadband and a console. Connection to the rest of the world.

And there comes the bit of zen. Cause there is not much of the real life. There is not much of illusions of the world. Just an essence. Steel and the sea. Not quite the monastery, more like the refugee's place. Voluntary refugee's place. Yes, the monastery.

oil rig refugee

Just voluntary refugees on an oil rig, far from the other buildings but with broadband connection? Lack of meatspace illusions can be substituted by the illusion of the metaverse. Any illusion can be real if you take a real look.

If you like this story, share it with the rest of the world. Thanks.
