First time it happens we are surprised, maybe confused or even alerted. With a bit of luck there is somebody of older residents to tell you that was happening to most of us. But then it happens again and again, so we get used to it. And then it stops. Or better, we stop remembering it. But sometimes a small (or larger) chunk of second life dream pops back to the consciousness while our humans are doing morning rituals of bath or making a cup of coffee.
It is more than natural that is happening. Second life is the land made of dreams. All that flying, teleporting and shapeshifting are more appropriate to the dreamland than to being awake. Not to mention all the surroundings we see and characters we meet. Combine that with the time we daily spend on the grid, multiply with focus that goes to nice images on the monitors and there you go. Sweet dreams guaranteed! It's only up to you to recall them after awaking. Some time ago I met a lady who was using second life to enhance her flying dreams. And she was reporting improvement. Now, imagine all the possibilities.
But we don't dream second life exclusively. Dreamland is being that nice medium that combines impossible things even better than metaverse. So we usually end up in some nice combination of meatspace and second life, humans and avatars standing one next to the other, most of them being something in between or both. And question who is actually the first person in the dream, through whose eyes I am dreaming is to hard to answer. It would be hard even if it wouldn't change as the dream goes.

Maybe our dreams are the place where it all unites. Finally. A place where things are smooth because there is no lag and no attachments needed to instantly run desired animation. You just think of it and there is goes. Yes, that is the perfect interface. But most important maybe, a place where all our avatars, including the one made of flash and bones are united. Or at least, changing spontaneously enough. A pace where we finally meet all our selves.
