Since I’ve heard the same question and concerns so many times in the past days I had to do what we usually hate to do: to read official Linden’s blog carefully. The main problem is about what will be considered necessary to access the new adult continent officially named Ursula, or as residents like to call it – Pornsylvania. The answer is: Yes, payment info does count. I am not sure if that means payment info on file or payment info used, but credit card does make you adult in the eyes of Linden Lab, check F.A.Q. fourth question if you don’t believe me. You don’t have to give your data to Aristotle or some other dubious company.

Quite recently there was a lot of noise about female skins that depicted scars and bruises. Later we’ll discover that those were not skins but cloth layers, which does change some things about this touchy subject. But still, we’re confronting the issue of rape and violence in the role-playing.

Beaten

Of course that we all have strong feelings about this, but our reactions vary. From disgust to agreeing that all the involved are consenting adults. Some people escape the trap by saying it’s the ToS matter and hurry up to call for banning. But that’s just coward’s way. Way not to deal with the real problem. Read more »

As many of you have noticed, this blog thing of mine was broken in the past couple of weeks. Obviously, it’s back now. You may ask what was wrong, but I don’t have the answer. Something about MySQL. But I fixed it. Not by knowledge and skill, but by half-randomly clicking things in control panel. Yes, blogs can be repaired with a hammer, have you ever doubt?

I was just browsing Flickr when I learned that there are authors that don’t feel good about making pictures of their builds. The following quote (also the avatar and sim in the image) is of AM Radio but it seems this is somewhat a widespread issue:

I might sound extreme, but I’m really conscious of what I’m trying to do with my builds. They are extremely personal to me.

AM Radio in The Space Between These Trees

That’s what makes his builds so great. And yes, it sounds extreme. This is not about copyright and the IP rights on second life creations, it’s more about life of an art piece. Read more »

I’ve just heard some noise about adult content in Second Life®. Again. So I dragged my lazy ass to the official Linden Lab blog to see what’s it all about. And, of course, there is a story about how they will filter search results (don’t we have that already?) and how adult areas will be separated from the rest of the mainland and how private islands will be flagged and that there will be some verification but paying info counts. All that will be done so that everybody can enjoy Second Life® without fear that they might encounter occasional nipples or some other adult content. There is only one thing that is not clear to them: what IS adult content?

Beware of the Dog

And there is one other thing that interests me: Who fuckin’ cares about all that? Read more »
