What Do You Miss?
Recently I've heard a human having one of those moments of initial second life enthusiasm and saying: "This is great, everything is possible!" Yes, it is possible to fly, you can have wings and tail, sun is always shining…. But, as you soon will discover, not everything is possible in the world of our imaginations. Read more…
Voice, Once Again
London Spenger's Last Post About Voice has shaken this part of SLogosphere. I guess it was the one of the peaks that bursts around about it. I see I am not the only one who was shaken once again and who had to reconsider some things. Funny enough, the very first post on this blog is about voice. So…
Look At the Sky!
We got a new sky! At this moment you can see it only with First Look viewer but if you have seen some snapshots from the beta grid you know it is worth every byte of downloading. Sky is done by WindLight technology. I tried to make something of it… Read more…
Being Around Without Avatar
In Intuitive 3-D Interface: Finger Mouse, Amazon, Barriers Hiro Pendragon discusses some possible features of future second life and interface issues. One of the things that pushed my thoughts is passive browsing:
Also known as "ghost mode", Passive Browsing would let SL browsers (clients) access content in Second Life without rendering any avatars. "Ghost Mode" is a misnomer, really, because it assumes that "You can see other people, and they can't see you". This is not what I'm suggesting.
The World is Going To Change
Today Lindens are going to close the grid to change the look and feel of the world forever.Yup, it is one more update. As official Linden's blog says there will be couple of fixes, some new minor features and introduction of sculpted prims. There was some talk about sculpted prims last weeks and if you are adventurous enough to go to the beta grid you could see them live.
So, let's see what's expecting us tonight. One does not need to be psychic to know that grid will be down more than announced and that lot of things will not work when we finally get our new clients and log in. That's the way things go. This time, it will be worth it.

These Are the Good Old Days
There is something fun in this early stages of virtual worlds. Half an hour ago I needed to send something like e-mail to the friend of mine who was off-line at the moment. So, as usual, I made new notecard, wrote what I had to, saved the notecard in my inventory, renamed it, searched for friend's profile, and dropped the notecard. Pretty complicated process for one e-mail. Not to mention that writing a notecard is not much of high technology experience. It is not the first time I was about to go to the Second Life's features poll and to yell for something more convenient. Read more…
Can We Please, Have the Weather?
Second life is too much of a dream-world. Let’s forget for the moment the fact that there are too many oh-so-great chicks, and that even more boys are tall and strong, let’s forget that we don’t need houses and don’t have to eat if we don’t want to, or that we can have in the dwellings of our dreams. One of the basic things that make second life the world in a dream is the weather. Read more…
